Who we are
About beMahan
beMahan is a free learning site made in India. It turns the NCERT textbooks of Classes 1 to 12 into short video lessons, narrated in Hindi with English subtitles, with notes, practice questions and a test at the end of every chapter. There are no fees, no ads and no paid plan: we believe a good education should not depend on what a family can pay.
How a lesson is made
- From the book. Every lesson follows one topic of the NCERT chapter, in the book's order, and uses the book's own figures. The script explains the idea in simpler words, never a word-for-word translation.
- Painted, not filmed. The scenes and characters are drawn in our own hand-painted style, with real photos where a real place or thing helps.
- Real life first. Each idea gets an everyday Indian example, and each lesson solves one real problem.
- Checked before release. Each script is checked against the textbook, and every finished video is reviewed before it goes out. Lessons for the youngest children are slower and use the book's own letter and word cards.
Where the lessons are
On this site, chapter by chapter, and on YouTube: beMahan Primary for Classes 1 to 5 and beMahan Secondary for Classes 6 to 10. New lessons come out every day. The books themselves are free from NCERT atncert.nic.in; beMahan is not part of NCERT or CBSE.
