Today we added on the farm. We counted on from the bigger number. And subtracted in stories! They helped each other. Each took a basket and picked vegetables. Seven in Rumi's basket, five in Shami's, twelve tomatoes altogether! Seven plus five, twelve! Nine carrots in one basket, four in another! Nine plus four, thirteen! Eight radishes and eight radishes! Eight plus eight, sixteen! Take care of it, and draw it as it grows! A ginladi is a string of counting beads! The boy said, first twelve beads, then count on four, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen! Twelve plus four, sixteen! Now add on the ginladi! Thirteen plus four, seventeen! Fourteen plus five, nineteen! Six plus eight, fourteen! Five plus seven, twelve! Now add by hopping! Eight plus five, thirteen! Thirteen plus three, sixteen! Two plus sixteen, eighteen! Four plus twelve, sixteen! Now find two numbers that make thirteen, ten and eighteen! Should we count from one every time? No, start at the bigger number, then count on!
